For graduates in business administration and economics
Civilekonomerna, The Swedish Association of Graduates in Business Administration and Economics, is a union and interest organization for professionals and students in business and economics in Sweden. We have 44.000 members. We are the largest network in Sweden for business professionals with an acamedic background. Nobody knows the work market, salaries and career as well as we do.
Being a member of our union entitles you to advice on work-related matters, such as employment contracts and benefits. We offer updated statistics on salary levels and help (legally if needed) should there be issues at your work place which can not be solved locally. For your benefit as a member, we arrange numerous career-related seminars and lectures every year. In addition we offer career and educational advising, including expert advice on writing CV:s and personal letters. Civilekonomerna also runs a two-year mentorship program and many networking groups exclusively for members. As a member you have access to insurance policies and other services at a reduced cost and all members receive the magazine Civilekonomen.
To be eligible for membership, one must have a university degree of at least three years (180 ECTS credits, corresponding to a bachelor’s degree ) in business and/or economics or in related subjects, for example statistics, economic history, economic geography, industrial engineering and management, trade law, and logistics. One needs to have at least 90 ECTS credits in the major subject.
Civilekonom is a professional title for a person who fulfills the membership requirements of Civilekonomerna, the Swedish Association of Graduates in Business Administration and Economics.
One of our most important member benefits is the income insurance. This insurance is included in the membership fee and it guarantees 80 % of your salary up to SEK 80 000/month in case of unemployment. The qualification time for the insurance is 12 months membership in Civilekonomerna. In order to be covered by the income insurance, you also need to be a member of Akademikernas a-kassa (AEA). You apply for membership with AEA when you fill out the application form for membership with us.

If you have a degree from a non-Swedish university and want to show your academic qualifications The Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR) will validate your exam free of charge.
As a member of Civilekonomerna, you can always contact us for counselling and you will also receive the Civilekonom certificate as a proof of your academic level.
